IBM has released an updated version of its Informix database with an emphasis on improved performance.

Ingres has updated its flagship database with new migration, performance and security capabilities in the hopes of winning users over from its competitors.

NitroSecurity announced Oct. 9 it had acquired the security business of LogMatrix for an undisclosed sum and plans integrate its risk-based correlation technology to fight cyber-threats.

A survey of 300 IT organizations shows that mainframes remain mission-critical and are likely to be part of any cloud strategy.
